V7 - fixing dA interface with Greasemonkey

So, we have the V7, and everyone is happy, right?

Still, we're waiting for several small changes, like full view, but I hope all issues will be resolved soon.

This is how it looks like now on my screen, when some Greasemonkey scripting magic came to work. Interested? — read below.

So that day the V7 came I took my , and looked under the devArt hood. First warning: these script you are gonna see came as a quick fixes for my problems. I can't guarantee they will work for you — you have been warned.

First, I fixed the Message Center 2 Go script made by bentomlin to enable it for V7. His original creation is here:

Second, I missed the search bar and real full view — and for these two things I made this little script, which you can find here to./45i6

Works for me, your mileage may vary.

And now, a little FAQ.

What do I need to install these scripts?
You need to have latest Firefox, and latest Greasemonkey addon.

How do I install it?
Follow this simple tutorial.

Tutorial: installing Greasemonkey scripts  

• as these scripts were tested under Firefox, you should have Firefox as your browser — getFirefox
• you should also have Greasemonkey — you'll find it here: a.m.o:Greasemonkey
• when you have them both, up and running (see the little monkey face in your browser's status bar? Good, it's Greasemonkey!)
• you can now click the link for the script of your choice:
Message counters — to./45ia (MessageCenter2Go)
Fullview and Search bar — to./45i6 (devArt-v7-fullView)
• a page filled with code should open — hit F5 to refresh;
• now, Greasemonkey kicks in — a window should open, asking you, if you wish to install the script — accept it;
• look at the status bar — Greasemonkey should report the script got installed;
• right–click on the monkey head, choose Manage scripts (alternatively — middle–click on the monkey);
• on the list you should see the installed script;
• now, go to any deviantArt page, and just to be sure, hit F5 (refresh);
• and you're done! The bar at the top should change a couple of seconds after all elements of the page get loaded.

Does it work in [insert your browser name here]
Frankly, I don't have any idea. It works in Firefox 3.6.3 with Greasemonkey 0.8.20100408.6 — that's my setup. It should work in Flock with Greasemonkey, or any other browser based on Gecko engine with Greasemonkey. It might work in latest Chrome, but I didn't checked. Opera? No idea. IE8? I'm pretty sure it won't work there.

I don't like it. How can I remove the script?
You're into V7? Great! Just right–click the monkey head, choose Manage scripts (alternatively — middle–click on the monkey), highlight the script you wish to delete, and hit the Uninstall button. That's it!
