My deviantART Story? Well, it was long, long time ago, March 3rd 2001 to be exact, the day I landed here. Origins? Customize, LiteStep and so on. But I was a lurker then. It changed a bit when I made my first :+fav:The Perfumed Garden by burning-giraffe

But one of the first deviations I remember the most is Other's Cinderellas Dreams by NaIniE — I'm still in awe that this beautiful image was created with only a mouse and not a tablet.
::Other Cinderella's Dreams:: by NaIniE

There are deviations where the image is strong, but the description can simply blow your mind — it was the case when I stumbled upon The Logic of Crocodiles by fetology101.

How could I forget about Pinup superhero by ladymorgana — a signed version with #2 edition number owned by me.

And when you spend too much time in the dark corners of dA, what's better to shine some light than a bunch of Phausis Reticulata with lovely SusanCoffey?

I always knew that The've lied to us all [by jjnaas], but then dt happened and we got a glimpse of the inner workings of devART.

I will always remember fondly the :devdeviantartgear: — especially the Artists United shirt with design from reyjdesigns

Here I have also found my ultimate wall paper, beautiful Synergy by OmeN2501.

Oh, I think I've put more than five deviations here, so let me close with just a few more — my beloved Izabella as depicted by MuluC85, based on a photo I took:

And closing, together to the end by inismonaphotography
  together to the end by inismonaphotography
…together, to the end, just like with deviantART — as I think this site is now part of my DNA. I might be silent, not post much, not comment much, observe dArama from a distance, but I feel like home here.

Oh, you all get it now, right? I have absolutely no time for doing any kind of art. And even if I find time to shot some photos — I then have no time to upload them anywhere, not even thinking about processing them somehow.

But more and more people tell me, that I need to put my words (Make a blog! — I hear you, dammit!) and my photos (Show me, show me! — oooh, shut up!) to the net for you all to chew it. I guess I finally need to have a vacation, and spend a week maybe on sifting the photos, choosing the best ones, preapring some kind of folio, and dumping it all there. Yeah, right… Wish me luck.

Here, fetch — devArt V7 Oversplinter — GreaseMonkey script.

If this link doesn't work, try copy–paste this one: eccentrica.eu/assets/devart-v7-oversplinter.user.js

:chew: Works for me, your mileage may vary.

:bulletred: :bulletred: :bulletred: YOU INSTALL THIS ON YOUR OWN! :bulletred: :bulletred: :bulletred:

And now, a little FAQ.

:pointl: What do I need to install these scripts?
:pointr: You need to have latest Firefox, and latest Greasemonkey addon.

:pointl: How do I install it?
:pointr: Follow this simple tutorial.

:bulletgreen::bulletgreen::bulletgreen: Tutorial: installing Greasemonkey scripts  :bulletgreen::bulletgreen::bulletgreen:

• as these scripts were tested under Firefox, you should have Firefox as your browser — getFirefox
• you should also have Greasemonkey — you'll find it here: a.m.o:Greasemonkey
• when you have them both, up and running (see the little monkey face in your browser's status bar? Good, it's Greasemonkey!)
• you can now click the link for the script: devArt V7 Oversplinter — GreaseMonkey script
• a page filled with code should open — hit F5 to refresh;
• now, Greasemonkey kicks in — a window should open, asking you, if you wish to install the script — accept it;
• look at the status bar — Greasemonkey should report the script got installed;
• right–click on the monkey head, choose Manage scripts (alternatively — middle–click on the monkey);
• on the list you should see the installed script;
• now, go to any deviantArt page, and just to be sure, hit F5 (refresh);
• and you're done! The bar at the top should change a couple of seconds after all elements of the page get loaded.

:pointl: OMG! It works! How can I thank you?!
:pointr: Share the news with others.
But if you're reeeealy that generous — I have a wishlist… ];->

:pointl: Does it work in [insert your browser name here]
:pointr: Frankly, I don't have any idea. It works in Firefox 3.6.3 with Greasemonkey 0.8.20100408.6 — that's my setup. It should work in Flock with Greasemonkey, or any other browser based on Gecko engine with Greasemonkey. It might work in latest Chrome, but I didn't checked. Opera? No idea. IE8? I'm pretty sure it won't work there.

:pointl: I don't like it. How can I remove the script?
:pointr: You're into V7? Great! Just right–click the monkey head, choose Manage scripts (alternatively — middle–click on the monkey), highlight the script you wish to delete, and hit the Uninstall button. That's it!

:pointl: I have a question not covered in this FAQ — what should I do?
:pointr: :bored: Oh, c'mon! Ask in the comments!

:pointl: I have an idea — what should I do?!
:pointr: :floating: Share it in the comments! I really read every one comment. I don't promise I'll introduce your idea in the script — I don't have much free time, sorry. But I'll think about it, if it's good. :peace:

Welcome fellow deviants!

So, we have the V7, and everyone is happy, right? :woohoo:

Update! rehael.deviantart.com/journal/… (OverSplinter!), new scipt, for new times. Also — changed the devArt-v7-FullView script to proide only fullview. Search bar is in Sticky Menu, so please use the official solution from now on.

Update! rehael.deviantart.com/journal/… (Sneak preview) of a little something… :nana:

Update! Look at hq blog post — hq.deviantart.com/blog/3240499… (The Search Bar returns and new Splinter Mode!). The scripts presented below should be not needed anymore.

Still, we're waiting for several small changes, like full view, but I hope all issues will be resolved soon.

Anyway, for historical records, I'm leaving the content of this entry for future genrations. :giggle:

PS: …but if you really miss the MessageCenter2Go dropdowns, you should know I miss them too, and might be working on update, to make it playing well with Splintered menu. Watch this space!

:ahoy:

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

:cough: Rrright, nice joke. We've lost our precious search bar, the full view is just another thumbnail, and the message indicator — wait, what message indicator? :confused:

devArt features
:pointr: Search bar — missing Yay! It's back in Stick Menu!
:pointr: Message counters — missing, use Splintered menu, or/and use MessageCenter2Go modified by me
:pointr: Full View — missing, use my script

Ok, wanna see something?

This is how it looks like now on my screen, when some Greasemonkey scripting magic came to work. Interested? — read below.

So that day the V7 came I took my :wizardhat:, and looked under the devArt hood. First warning: these script you are gonna see came as a quick fixes for my problems. I can't guarantee they will work for you — you have been warned.

:bulletyellow: First, I fixed the Message Center 2 Go script made by bentomlin to enable it for V7. His original creation is here:

Message Center 2 Go by bentomlin

My fixed version, working with V7, you can find here :pointr: to./45ia

:bulletyellow: Second, I missed the search bar and real full view — and for these two things I made this little script, which you can find here :pointr: to./45i6

:chew: Works for me, your mileage may vary.

Updates:
2010-05-22: entry rewritten from scratch.
2010-05-23: added info about Search available in Stick Menu
2010-05-24: added info about message counters available in Splintered menu mode
2010-05-30: Sneak preview of another script I work on
2010-06-03: rehael.deviantart.com/journal/… (OverSplinter) landed

Todo:
• add electricjonny .shadow a code;
• see if I can unwrap Artist's Comments by default;

Generally, a change for the better.

But three things just bug me off really hard:

Searchbar — it should be accessible from every possible page. Maybe put it on Sticky menu as a user selectable option? Really, save my time, please.

FullviewFAQ #4: Which options can I control under the Edit Settings page? — this still has zoomed in as an option! When I finally land on deviation page I want to see the deviation! a not a scaled down quite–large–but–still–not–the–real–thing thumbnail. Bring it back, and — again — save my time, please.

Instant comment from MessageCenter Deviation Stacked View — it worked in V6, now redirects to deviation page. What is that redirect for? Bring the instant comment ability back. And — save my time, pleeease.

Thanks to MessageCenter2Go I have instant access to the information I need, but without it the main bar is pretty useless.

Other that that — I love the new design, and I hope the glithes outlined here and in other comments will be fixed really soon. :ahoy:

Today, in friggin' freezing conditions I decided to make some shots. After a cople of moments the autofocus on my belowed DA*50–135 stopped working. I was here...

Wed Aug 5, 2009, 3:34 PM

…almost from the very beginning!

…yup, 7 months after the baby-birth. I was here where ART meets Application. For 8 years and 5 months I was here. What a history.

And now deviantArt drops into tenth year of operation.

:onfire:

Yay!

That's the spirit! :)

Go, create! Go, be devious!

PS: I'm going to Vienna, to party — and celebrate 9th year of devArt with my love, and my trusty cam — creating art of course. What batter could you do than creating art as a celebration?

Erm, when it was available before? Something tells me I acted silly in this journal entry, as the new feature is simply adding thumbnails to descriptions, and not the bulk upload I was so excited about.

One word — finally! It's the second thing I'm glad I paid for. You can't even imagine how it simplifies work for me! What a relief! But… Still waiting for the 120 thumbs in Message Center. :D
